Kungfu Ramen is a relatively new noodle house in Chinatown, City and is known for their great tasting ‘secret hand-pulled noodles’.

We decided to take a seat near the window and watched the bustling traffic move as our meals were promptly prepared. Meanwhile, we help ourselves to some complimentary Green Tea which is kept nice and warm in a futuristic looking thermos. Our waiter immediately scores brownie points by eagerly wiping down our somewhat already clean table, giving us the impression that cleanliness is held in high regard. The first meal (stir fried noodles with chicken) came out swiftly - and the noodles certainly did not disappoint. They were satisfyingly chewy, yet soft and would impress the harshest noodle critic. However, the dish overall was a little underwhelming and seemed a little overpriced compared to what you could pick up elsewhere in Chinatown. The serving size was large, and as a result the interest levels did wane midway through the meal due to the consistent taste.

The second meal (Ramen Noodles with beef) came out 5 minutes later than the first meal, which was disappointing, however we swiftly moved on from this as we got stuck into the mammoth task of finishing the whole meal. The restaurants signature dish was intense in flavour and took some getting used to after an initial chilli induced coughing fit, however by the end of it had really grown on us.

Notable omissions from our taste test included the shish kebab skewers on the charcoal grill and the myriad of salad varieties which we endeavour to try on our next visit.

Kung Fu Ramen - Decor

The atmosphere at Kung Fu Ramen was pleasant, welcoming and I would definitely recommend it if you’re in Chinatown hankering for a quick, halal and authentic Asian feed.
