You know the saying picture perfect? When something in real life looks so faultless that it must be a photograph – one that was meticulously designed and taken in prime circumstances? Walking into the House of Thai gave me that feeling. They’ve selected tasteful artwork and a mix of traditional and modern....

Melbourne City is known for its diversity in food and beverages. You can easily find a Thai restaurant neighbouring a Jamaican coffee shop next to an Italian pasta joint. So what happens when you’re out to eat with a bunch of friends and you all want different cuisines? You hit the food court of course!

Most people know the "Flame" trademark from their largely successful restaurant in Campsie, which offered large portions for cheap prices – especially on Tuesdays. Based on this success the owners have focused their target market by opening a “gourmet” version of their Campsie shop. They’ve done well in selecting the location and venue.

Located in the heart of a suburb with predominately Lebanese and Turkish population, it’s no wonder that Roxy kebab’s specialises in Turkish cuisine. The restaurant is easy enough to get to as it is just off Pascoe Vale road, and conveniently provides customers with a large car park.

Thai food has taken off in recent times and Thai Hutt is one of the many restaurants offering fully halal cuisine. It entered the market as one of the earliest players eight years ago with its Bankstown outlet. Success followed with them receiving “Best Thai Restaurant” in 2006 and “Thai Taste of the Year” in 2007. Five years ago they opened shop in Lakemba and our destination today is their most recent franchise in Auburn.

Visiting Silk Road was like finding a pearl hidden beneath the waters. All of the shops resting beside it camouflaged the offerings that such a place offers to Sydneysiders. But that’s what it does- it offers. It offers plenty of halal Chinese food.

King’s Tandoori Café is a family run restaurant located in the South Western Sydney suburb of Bankstown. Situated on a moderately trafficked road, the restaurant gives off a suburban restaurant vibe upon my arrival at its premises. It felt familiar. Comfortable. A faint fusion of spices filled the air. A loud, flickering television was mounted on the wall high enough for foodies to catch glimpse of Bollywood music videos. The tables, each holding a lime green folded napkin to blend in with the painted walls.
